Dr. Sol Pound

Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Sol Pound is a coach at MindFit and a registered Clinical Psychologist in the Province of Ontario. Dr. Pound is registered to provide services to children, adolescents, and adults with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO).

Training/Work Experience: Dr. Pound obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario and completed one-year Clinical Psychology post-doctoral residency at Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK). Her clinical training included working with children, adolescents, and young adults, providing consultation, assessment, and evidence-based treatment. Over the past 13 years, Dr. Pound has worked in a wide variety of settings including pediatric outpatient medical clinics, schools, community mental health centres, and private practices. She has also provided supervision to psychology students and residents.

Presenting Concerns: Dr. Pound is passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. She provides consultation and treatment services for individuals with a variety of concerns including: ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioural issues, obsessive-compulsive disorder, stress, developmental concerns, and learning issues.

Approach: She has a special interest in working collaboratively with parents to help them understand what is behind their child’s behaviour and engage in parenting approaches that foster connection, cooperation, structure, and the development of coping skills. She has extensive training and experience in cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, and positive parenting (informed by research on attachment theory and brain development). She also has experience with dialectical behaviour therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. Dr. Pound integrates her knowledge of these evidence-based approaches to best suit the unique needs of each individual client.

Outside of MindFit: Dr. Pound loves going on outings with her family, meeting with friends, skiing, swimming, playing squash, and reading while drinking tea
