Dr. Ya Xue

Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Ya Xue is a coach at MindFit and a registered Clinical Psychologist in the Province of Ontario. Dr. Xue is registered to provide services to children and, adolescents with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO).

Training/Work Experience: Dr. Ya Xue received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. She completed her pre-doctoral residency at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. Dr. Xue has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health programs, pediatric and adult outpatient hospital clinics, and private practices.

Presenting Concerns: Dr. Xue is passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. She specializes in the treatment of: anxiety / phobias (e.g., generalized, social and separation anxiety), coping with stress and uncertainty, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), low mood / depression, adjustment and stress-related difficulties. She also has extensive training in attachment theory and attachment-based interventions. In addition to providing individual therapy to children and adolescents, she is also passionate about working with parents and their children to foster the development of secure attachment relationships

Approach: Dr. Xue has a warm, empathetic and collaborative style. She uses evidence-based treatment approaches to help clients achieve their goals in therapy. Dr. Xue draws primarily from cognitive behaviour, dialectical behavioural, and motivational enhancement models of therapy.

Outside of MindFit: Dr. Xue enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, photography, collecting indoor plants, and trying new food.
